The Art of Overlooking

The art of being wise is the art of knowing what to overlook.

William James

A quote that now holds great personal meaning for me, as James suggests we choose not to respond to most negativity, either in our present or stored in the attic of  the past.

(suggested by a lovely post on “Let it come from your heart”)

Ah yes, the attic of the past. I am cleaning that out and closing the door ❤ Beautiful post, Tom.

The pic is from a fairly isolated spot in Michigan where I spent boyhood summer vacations. Last weekend, I was revisiting. The only access is by a dirt road (still). In 10 miles of driving, I saw no other cars. As for the quote, it struck me because this is exactly what I’ve been thinking about recently.
