Photo Challenge: The Glory of Being Alone

Savoring solitude comes naturally along the lower Au Sable River in Michigan.   Having spent boyhood summers exploring the forest  near this river,  I can look across the water and let memories flow on a still  August afternoon.

“Our language has wisely sensed these two sides of man’s being alone. It has created the word “loneliness” to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word “solitude” to express the glory of being alone.”
–Paul Tillich
