A Postcard from Elysium

As the Au Sable River wends its graceful way through northern Michigan on the way to its meeting with Lake Huron, it passes beneath 200 foot high bluffs.  If you descend to the river itself, Nature presents you with this tranquil scene.

Glad you enjoyed! This location along the river is kind of a fairyland of nature, with many little springs emerging from the hillside and rushing into the river. The trees are over 100 feet tall, making the forest floor relatively dark. This picture looking toward the sunlight, 80 ISO, pictures looking back into the forest, 800 ISO.

It was a quiet day on the river and with the blue sky, perfect for reflections. Then, there are those logs sunken in the cove. This river was a conduit for logs heading to the lumber mills near Lake Huron. But, that was over 100 years ago. These are the reminders of those days.
