Photo Challenge: First Green Shoots of Spring

While confronting  the stark white and icy blues of the polar vortex, a Michigander’s thoughts may turn to the first green shoots of Spring.

While with an eye made quiet by the power
Of harmony, and the deep power of joy,
We see into the life of things.
–William Wordsworth

‘Le vortex polaire et le gros vague de froid’ in your area is big news in France …. every single weather report starts with your story! That picture is a wonderful reminder of what is to come and Wordsworth, as ever with your pictures fits perfectly.

The temps are not drastically cold for here, but the prolonged nature of the cold is. But, it does lead me to look through my media library and all the greenery of spring and summer! BTW, the Wordsworth poem “Lines Written above Tintern Abbey” is one of my favorites.

Yes, we see our first greenery in Detroit at the beginning of April. The green line creeps northward and does not arrive in northern Michigan until May. But, I do have the option of driving south to the state of Kentucky to take advantage of warmer temps.
