Nothing quite as serene as a summer sunset over a local Michigan lake, the sky lit by a golden glow and a stillness in the air.

And the twilights last so long in the summer that there is plenty of time to capture the sunsets.

Long twilights were a favorite of mine when we lived in Western Colorado. Long shadows and technicolor skies were the order of the afternoon.

Yes, I seem to remember that from my visit to Mesa Verde and Durango. Great sunsets!

I totally like your photos. Maybe I am wrong, but maybe Freud just missed the point?

Glad you enjoyed the photos. Freud always a hard guy to pin down, but I suspect he was thinking that beauty is a sublimation of our feeling of love for another, perhaps a long lost love. Of course, he might say that I was just projecting my own feelings into his comment. 🙂

Thanks very much, Maniparna. The twilights are long here in summer and the glow lingers in the sky.
