Vertical, not diagonal–that is how we usually think of trees. But, here’s a testament to tenacity, a tree I caught defying forest geometry. Rather than the Leaning Tower of Pisa; Michigan boasts its own Leaning Pine of Pigeon River.

Glad you enjoyed the post. I should be heading back to this forest this coming weekend! It’s really a beautiful area, a kind of semi-wilderness criss-crossed by several rivers. There’s an elk herd nearby, but I’ve yet to see any. Maybe this time.
